  • Anonymous Performance & Crash Data: Standard diagnostic data to help us identify and fix app crashes across different Android devices.
  • Aggregate Usage Metrics: General usage statistics (such as selected time controls) gathered via Google Firebase Analytics to improve user experience.
  • Device & OS Specifications: Technical details such as your device model and Android OS version.

We do not collect personal data such as your name, contact list, precise location, photos, or files.

How Information is Used

The minimal data collected is used solely to:

  • Maintain the accuracy, speed, and stability of the chess clock timer.
  • Identify and resolve technical bugs or unexpected crashes.
  • Understand overall usage patterns to guide future app updates.

Device Permissions

Chess Clock requests only the permissions necessary for its features:

  • INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required to send anonymous crash reports and Firebase analytics metrics.
  • VIBRATE: Required to provide haptic vibration feedback when players press their clock timer during a game.

Third-Party Services

Children's Privacy

Chess Clock is family-friendly and safe for players of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Chess Clock application, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the application.

Chess Clock provides a digital game timer utility for over-the-board chess matches and board games, offering configurable countdown controls, move increments, sound effects, and haptic feedback.

3. License & Usage

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Chess Clock app for personal, non-commercial use on compatible devices. You agree not to decompile, reverse-engineer, or misuse the software.

4. Accuracy & Tournament Disclaimer

The app is provided on an "AS IS" basis. While we strive for precise countdown timing and responsiveness, official hardware clocks certified by tournament federations (FIDE / USCF) should be used for rated tournament play when required.

5. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and intellectual property in the Chess Clock application belong exclusively to romerojhh.

6. Limitation of Liability

The developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use or inability to use the application or game outcome disputes.
